Checkpoint Charlie was beside the Glienicke bridge of the most famous border crossing in Berlin. The atmosphere of the Cold War was hardly any other place felt like it here. But shock of trees, and harassed watchtowers today is nothing more to see. Solely a reproduction of the guard reminiscent of those frosty interface of the Cold War.


The checkpoint was one of three established by the Americans was controlled. In addition, there were border checkpoints Helmstedt-Marienborn (Checkpoint Alpha) and Dreilinden-Drewitz (Checkpoint Bravo). The transition is expected only by foreigners and employees of the Permanent Mission of Germany in the GDR and GDR functionaries used.
